If you met around the world or share a passion for discovering different countries, then a travel-themed wedding is the right idea for you. There are so many creative ways to incorporate your adventures near and far into your wedding planning and make your big day truly unique.
Green light to travel-themed decorations

The first secret to organizing a wedding that expresses your love for travel is to use the most common symbols in the arrangements. Take as a reference all those objects that immediately recall the chosen theme, such as suitcases, maps, postcards, compasses and so on.
For example, you could take a trip to a local market and find some vintage items, or use the souvenirs you have collected from around the world. Use them in an original way, combining them with the inevitable flowers to combine tradition with your personality.
Choose your favorite travel photos
If during your “explorations” you have taken many photos, consider printing them and turning them into a sort of personal gallery for your big day (you can then hang them at home after the wedding). Another way to highlight an image taken on the go, of the two of you or a landscape, is to print it and insert it in the invitations.
Use the same fil rouge to create the tableau mariage, choosing the destinations or cities that most impressed you as the names for the tables. The extra idea? If photography isn’t your thing, you can also look for old photos or postcards at the flea market and include them in decorations, invitations and even party favors.
The menu for a travel-themed wedding

If you fell in love tasting a particular specialty, perhaps on the other side of the world, for your travel-themed wedding you cannot miss a menu inspired by distant flavors. Make sure you choose a caterer that specializes in other cuisines and can accommodate your wish.
The best way to get new tastes to be tasted is to introduce them for aperitif time, in the form of themed islands. For example, if Japan is your passion, you cannot miss a taste of Japanese tradition: not only sushi, now very inflated, try something more surprising like gyoza ravioli, tempura and fun octopus-based takoyaki.
As an alternative to the classic seated dinner, especially if many of the guests are young, you could organize a sort of street food festival with many small themed trucks. From spicy Mexican flavors to Greek specialties, passing through American burgers and French crepes, impress your guests with something that is truly out of the ordinary.
Choose a themed playlist
If you’ve lived abroad or just traveled far and wide, there’s a good chance you’ve also discovered local music. For your travel-themed wedding you can create an aperitif playlist dedicated to these songs or look for a band specializing in a musical style that you enjoyed listening to during your adventures. It will be the best way to convey to your guests the “background” that helped to make your love grow.
