Flowers for weddings: the month-by-month guide

When getting married, the floral arrangement is one of the main expenses. Flowers for weddings are one of the wedding symbols, because they convey joy and beauty, but their cost can rise a lot, especially if you don’t choose seasonal varieties.

Flowers for winter wedding

Despite the cold weather, even in winter there are many beautiful varieties of wedding flowers to explore – just know which ones to choose.

January

In the first month of the year, there is a king of flowers for weddings: colorful and delicate, it is the amaryllis. This large, traditionally red bud, which can also be found in pink and white, is the quintessential winter flower.

February

In the month of February the first spring buds are already beginning to arrive, but among the flowers for the seasonal wedding it is worth mentioning the buttercup, with its dense petal motif. Then there are also the anemone, the sterlizia and the carnation.

March

Although spring comes at the end of March, the temperatures of the month are still cold. However, there are also the first spring flowers such as the tulip, a classic late winter and early spring flower. Available in different shades, it gives an elegant atmosphere to wedding compositions.

Spring wedding flowers

With the onset of the classic ceremonial season, many flowers reach their peak in bloom. There is truly spoiled for choice: finding the right wedding flowers will be a real pleasure.

April

A flower for the wedding available as early as April is the cicerchia odorosa, which in nature grows as a climbing plant. The bud is very special and comes in many different colors, from pink to deep purple. And then there are other fragrant varieties, such as lily of the valley and lilac.

May

May is the month of roses: although they can be purchased at any time of the year, they are often imports from abroad that are not good for the environment. In May, however, different varieties bloom in all nurseries in our country. Then there are the refined peonies, among the favorites for bridal bouquets ; they have a relatively short season and must be imported at other times of the year. There are also the first hydrangeas, among the most beautiful and cheap wedding flowers.

June

Our favorite June flower is the delphinium, available in pastel colors such as pink and blue, which stands out for its tall stem. And then there are the fragrant gardenias, perfect for the groom ‘s boutonnière.

Flowers for summer wedding

Summer flowers are naturally a little more robust and rustic than spring wedding flowers because they have to withstand high temperatures. There are still some spring flowers, such as hydrangea and rose, but this season we especially love the compositions that mix buds and green leaves.

July Lisianthus

resembles the rose, but has thinner petals and obviously no thorns. In July also the calla, very elegant with its long stem, and the gerbera, the extra large and colorful version of the daisies, blooms.

August

This is the month of two classic flowers that bloom in our gardens: the zinnia, with its small colorful buds, and the cosmos, a sort of colored daisy that continues to bloom even in September. And then there are sunflowers, perfect for a country wedding.

September

During one of the “hottest” months for ceremonies, among the flowers for the seasonal wedding we find the splendid dahlia, with its lively and cheerful nuances. Then we also have the calendula, with its intense orange.

Autumn wedding flowers

The first colds begin, but this does not mean that there are no seasonal flowers. In these months we also recommend inserting the leaves of the trees, with their amazing red, yellow and orange colors.

October

Among the flowers for the October wedding we point out celosia, a particular variety available with feather or cockscomb-shaped buds, declined in fuchsia, purple, orange and red.

November

Although it begins to bloom in spring, scabiosa can still be found in November, especially in more temperate areas. Thanks to its delicate shades, it will embellish autumn bouquets.

December

For those who have chosen to get married during the last month of the year, among the flowers for the wedding can not miss the hellebore with its simple white, pink or red flowers, enhanced by the beautiful round leaves.
