In late September of 2016 I decided it was time to propose to my partner of five years, Richard, but was stumped about how to do it. I knew he wanted an over-the-top proposal. Over the years he’d sent me dozens of “flash-mob” proposal videos as subtle hints, but that route just didn’t feel right for us.
I had the idea of organizing a scavenger hunt that would send him on a journey around Richmond to places of significance to us and culminating in a grand proposal in front of dozens of our family and friends in a very public place–the lobby of the Jefferson Hotel. As I began to think through the details of this elaborate scheme, however, I knew I needed help so I turned to the ladies of EQ events.
I am so glad I did.
The EQ team took my vision and executed it in ways I never imagined. They attended meetings at the proposal venue with me and did several walk-throughs to put me at ease that everything would go as planned.
They attended to every detail–many of which never occurred to me. They made an elaborate proposal that was dependent on a tight timeline with many moving parts and dozens of guests go off without a hitch.
But most importantly, EQ events created an environment from the beginning of the planning process to the actual proposal that celebrated my relationship with Richard. They made us both feel so very special and created an experience that we will treasure for the rest of our lives.
“My wife and I recently had the great opportunity to work with these extremely efficient professionals. Our wedding venue has very strict guidelines regarding the use of ANY flame whatsoever. Therefore, sternos are not permitted. This created a problem for our caterers. Casey, our event planner, immediately went into action to find an alternative for us. We found this was not an easy feat. EQ Events actually purchased 5 electric chafers for us to rent for our wedding. This hurdle was quickly rectified. We later had a last minute issue with our party rental delivery date to the venue. This could have been a HUGE problem and we were extremely upset about this issue until we were able to discuss the problem with Casey and Rachel. Rachel efficiently and professionally handled the situation the following morning with the rental company and with the venue. She followed all of her conversations with confirmation emails just to ensure we had all communication in writing. She also required confirmation that we would not be charged any extra fees for the changes made, as this issue was not any fault of our own.
Casey was also is constant communication with us regarding all ideas, decor and theme. She spent many hours carrying out our vision. She made sure our wedding was uniquely us. All artwork, banners, bar menus were hand done and kept to our theme. We went to her with ideas and she ran with them. The event was beautiful and magical. My wife and I think back to that night and wish we could relive it.
